Classes at Biblioteca Sissi
We understand that readers comes in all different shapes and sizes- and so should the celebration of literacy! Because of this, Biblioteca Sissi offers a variety of classes throughout the year. These classes are taught by local experts, and take a look at literacy through different lenses. These classes span the dates of the school year (February-November) and encompass everything from science to architecture to art to theater, providing adults and children alike opportunities otherwise lost in rural Nicaragua. When class is not in session, our librarian holds story hour and open reading time.

Theatre and Arts Productions
Our drama and dance instructors are proud to present a number of productions through the library. From full scale plays to cultural dance performances, these unique experiences incorporate students of all ages– and always draw a huge crowd!
Buildings and New Projects
Power, water, and general maintenance of our building costs an average of $200 monthly. We would like to maintain a fund not only to pay these bills, but to remain covered in case of emergency.
We have big dreams of building a large rancho on our new property! It will serve as a meeting host for the local Parent Teacher association, an area for important community celebrations, and a space for all big library events. This new construction will require the demolition of an existing structure, land leveling, and a significant concrete pour. We have a current construction estimate of $200,000.
